White bathroom suites with chrome taps and fittings remained the strongest and most popular choice for bathroom suites by far, with requests for coloured suites falling by the wayside.
But style is very much at the forefront with showers over baths where there is no room for a separate shower tray, with retro looking taps and fitting being ever popular, at the other end of the scale more and more people are going for the more contemporary designs available.
Built in wc cisterns with neat and easy to keep clean back to the wall pans are also chosen wherever possible, ans because this style creates a handy shelf it is very useful for the inevitable odds and ends that cannot be stored in a cupboard, and with storage in mind vanity units are also very useful, obviously for storage but also to create smoother lines within the room with all pipes etc, concealed within.
The more traditional radiator is being replaced with "ladder" style towel warmers, but unless the room is small it may not have the capacity to heat the room especially when is is "insulated" with damp towels!
Fortunately there is much more choice in designs than there has ever been before, so it is fairly important to do plenty of research before starting to get estimates in, an independent show room is probably the best to start with because they are not normally tied in with just one or two suppliers, and if they haven't got exactly what you want they will have plenty of catalogues to choose from.
Tiling, this is where you can really work some magic, with a white bathroom suite as a backdrop you can really give your bathroom the look and feel that you want, big tiles look great even in a small bathroom, colours and borders can make your bathroom a bright and airy space. Natural stone (again large) will give a genuine feel of luxury and goes very well with white fittings, a real five star bathroom, and this combination will stay looking great (and in fashion) for years to come, and because the whole room has been done tastefully, it will have real buyer appeal if you decide to move home.
A good modern and appealing bathroom along with a well designed kitchen and an ensuite shower room remain the most important benefits of a house ( after location and price) so putting all of these things in place before a house goes on the market is top priority. Your buyers would already know if your house is in the right place and the right price bracket, and if they like the look of your house you are halfway to a sale, so if you can impress with a good kitchen, bathroom and enuite, a sale could be in the bag!
